jSax Tuition

I teach jSax for children from the age of 4 upwards. Adult beginners can also start learning on the jSax if they prefer.

I am a Nuvo Ambassador, and I believe that the jSAX is an excellent starting instrument which introduces saxophone-like skills and musicianship.  It is designed to be affordable and robust enough for very young musicians, but also suitable for adults who are just starting out in music.

For students just beginning music, I will provide instruction in basic care and maintenance of the instrument and how to read music.

If you choose to progress to playing the traditional saxophone, I can give guidance on how to choose an instrument, mouthpiece and reeds to suit you.

Students wanting to have jSAX lessons can either bring their own instrument, or you can hire one from me to take home and practice with.

jSAX lessons last 30 minutes and are one-to-one in my home studio (with parents in attendance for very young children). I am fully DBS checked.

I use a variety of different teaching methods, including online resources such as the Nuvo Windstars programme. You will get your own learning journal so you can keep track of how you're doing, and we can put some of the key points from our lessons online so you can make better progress at home.

Here's a YouTube video of the Nuvo jSAX in action (it really does sound and play like a soprano),and the information leaflet showing you more about the instrument is here.
